Asbury Park Sept. 15, 1983 A2H Obituaries Michael J. Rafferty dies at 71; former Little Silver councilman EDWARD L. GOLDEN HAZLET TOWNSHIP EMwarrM Golden, 62, died yesterday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel Township. Mr.

Golden was born in Newark and moved here 35 years ago. He was a maintenance worker for nine years at Raritan High school, here. Before: that he was employed for 27 years by P. Ballantine and Sons, Newark. He was a Navy veteran of World War.

n. He was a communicant of St. Ann'fr Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Jockel; a daughter, Mrs. Maureen McAndrews, Freehold; two brothers," Thomas and James, both Newark, and three grandchildren.

deVRIES OCEAN TOWNSHIP Blanche A. de-Vries, 70, died Monday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mrs. deVries was born in Union City and had lived in Bergenfield before moving here in 1966. She was an executive secretary for 10 years for Dor-o-matic of New York, Fort Lee, retiring in 1970.

Before that, she was an executive secretary with the American East Asiatic Trading New York. Surviving is her husband, Willard N. The Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements. AGNES C. CHANDLER WILLIAM A.

KREMER TOMS RIVER William A. Kremer, 83, died yesterday at Community Memorial Hospital, here. Mr. Kremer was born in Philadelphia and lived in Ocean Gate before moving here 26 years ago. He was a wholesale grocer for 35 years for Frank Kohler's Market, here, retiring in 1965.

He was a former member of the Ocean Gate Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothea Schmidt; five sons, Robert Dushore, William Harrington, Raymond Lakehurst, Sheffield, Freehold, and Joseph Rioux, here; four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Biernbaum, Ocean Gate, Mrs. Constance Farrand, South Weymouth, Mrs. Patricia Ingram, Union Beach, and Miss Ellen T.

Rioux, here; a sister, Mrs. Edna O'Don-nell, Philadelphia, 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, here, is in charge of arrangements. MARIA E.GECK MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP Maria E. Geek, 73, died yesterday at Freehold Area Hospital, Freehold Township.

Mrs. Geek was born in Romania and lived in Freehold before moving here three years ago. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, here. Surviving are her husband, Anton; two sons, Joseph, Freehold, and Anton South River, and four grandchildren.

Roehr, 52, a principal owner of the parent company of The Press and Sunday Press of Atlantic City, has died at his home in Lincoln, of cancer. Roehr, who learned of his illness last March, died on Tuesday. Roehr was married to Marcia Adams who, along with her sisters, purchased The Press from their father, Rolland Adams, in 1964. An expert in computer systems, Roehr orchestrated the newspaper's change to computerized typesetting in 1975. He was born in Krakow, Poland, and came to the United States at the age of 10.

In 1954 he received a degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Following Army service, Roehr was in charge of research at a family-run, Florida-based firm, Roehr Products which at the time was the nation's largest manufacturer of hypodermic needles. He joined The Press in 1960 as secretary-treasurer and assistant to the publisher, and resigned two years later to found Roehr Tool of Waltham, which made molds for the plastic industry. He returned to The Press when his wife and sisters-in-law purchased the company. In addition to being executive vice president of Abarta parent corporation of South Jersey Publishing which publishes the newspaper, he was an officer and held directorships in numerous other subsidiaries.

He also served as a vice president of South Jersey Publishing Co. He is survived, by his wife; three daughters, Cynthia, Carolyn and Mary Elizabeth; three brothers, Andrew And-over, Gregory, Newton, and Louis, Chicago, and a sister, Janeen L. Roehr, Hartland, Vt. Services are scheduled today at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Lincoln, Mass.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived there most of her life, moving here in 1973. Surviving are her husband and several children and grandchildren.

Rafferty, 71, of 93 Rumson Road, Little Silver, N.J., died yesterday while on a visit with a daughter here. Mr. Rafferty was born in New York City and had been a resident of Little Silver for the past 35 years, serving as a borough councilman and council president from 1961 to 1965. He was past chairman of the Monmouth County Regional Sewage Authority, and active in the Monmouth County Republican Club' for many years. Mr.

Rafferty was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, N.J., past grand knight of the Knights of FLORENCE El. ODARE BERKELEY TOWNSHIP Florence E. O'Dare, Holiday City at Berkeley, died yesterday at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. Mrs.

O'Dare was born in New York City and lived most of her life in Floral Park, N.Y., before moving here six years ago. She was a member of the Homeowners Association, an associate member of the First Aid Squad, a member of the Melodi-ers, and a member of the So-So, all Holiday City at Berkeley. Surviving are her husband, Hugh a son, Harry Burns, Miami, a daughter, Mrs. Florence Pietrafesa, Milford, a sister, Mrs. Irene McVitty, Pel-ham, N.Y., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrangements. ALFRED E. HELGESEN MATAWAN Alfred E. Helgesen, 52, died yesterday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel Township. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and resided in Matawan since 1962.

Mr. Helgesen was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked for New York City, as an administrator of international affairs for 37 years. He was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport, and the Couples Gub of that church, served as a church deacon and was a former member of the choir. Surviving are his wife, Helene Mueger Helgesen; a son, Tom, and two daughters, Karen and Sue, all at home.

The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements. JAMES W. CRUDUP NEPTUNE James W. Crudup, 68, died Monday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, here, Mr. Crudup was born in Franklin, N.C., and had lived in the Shore area since 1942.

He was a custodian at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, retiring in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War n. Surviving are his wife, the former Lucy Bell Dent, Durham, N.C.; a stepson, Clarence Dent, Bridgeport, a brother, David, here; and two sisters, Ethel Perry, Asbury Park, and Dora Peace, Farming-dale. FRED D. TERRY RED BANK Fred D. Terry, 73, died Tuesday at Riverview Hospital, Mr. Terry was born in Fair Haven and had been a resident of Eatontown until moving here 40 years ago. He worked in the borough's sanitation department for 25 years, retiring in 1977.

He was an Army veteran of World War and a member of the BPO Elks of the World, here. Surviving are his stepmother, Rachel, Long Branch; two brothers, Howard and Bedell, both here; and two sisters, Audrey Allen, Colorado Springs, and Emily Brown, Oakland, Calif. The Robert A. COPE DOVER TOWNSHIP Mabel F. Cope, 90, died yesterday at John F. Kennedy University Hospital, Stratford. Mrs. Cope was born in Trenton and lived in Jersey City and Rahway before moving here 16 years ago.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toms River, Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Chapter 72, Rahway, and Holiday City Eastern Star, Toms River. Lawrence Frted, an acclaimed photojournalist and a World War II hero, is dead at age 57. Fried, whose photographs appeared on more than 100 covers of Newsweek magazine and were regularly published in the Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, Redbook, Vogue and The New York Times, died of a heart attack Saturday at his home in Tarrytown. Every president from Dwight Eisenhower to Gerald Ford was a subject of Fried's camera, both in candid and portrait pictures.

He was honored by the Overseas Press Club of New York in 1960 after three assignments to the Soviet Union for Parade magazine for interpretation of for' eign news."
