The Francioni, Taylor Lopez Funeral Home, Neptune, is in charge of boat to the dock at Point Pleasant Hospital' where Miss Capen was examined by Dr. Jo- seph Domanski. Marine police alerted the police training' center ant! a representative from the center was at the hospital when Miss Capen was brought in, Stuart said. "It is almost an impossibility for any projectile to leave the shooting range," said a spokesman for the center, noting it was "a' million-to-one" chance that Miss Capen had been struck by a stray bullet. The center is Investigating the incident, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that one of the five; shooting ranges at the center was in use at the time of the incident. He added that the shooting range being used was at the north-' ern boundary of the center, while the boat was off the southern boundary when the ot ject struck Miss Capen. Police said that the center is marked navigational buoys. The center is also re-, quired to fly red pennants whenever the shooting range is being used, Stuart said, noting the pennants were flying yesterday when the incident occurred at 1:45 p.m. The spokesman for the center said the laceration Miss Capen suffered looked like a "scrape," and that it was possible she had been struck by an object dropped by a seagull flying overhead.

Miss Capen was taken to Point Pleasant Hospital where a medical examination showed that she suffered a superficial laceration of the forehead.

She was released from the hospital after treatment, a hospital spokesman said. The cause of the laceration was listed as unknown and an X-ray examination showed there were no internal injuries, police said. "We just can't figure it out. I heard it hit her, but we have no idea what it was," said Deborah's mother, Mrs. Barbara Capen.

The family is on vacation at a summer home in Lavallette and had been fishing prior to the incident. Police said the boat was coming into the inlet when the owner, James Capen, hailed down a marine patrol and told police on, board he thought his daughter had been shot.
