BLUFORD 78, of FAIR HAVEN, died Saturday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was employed at Fort Monmouth for 45 years, retiring in 1988. During his tenure at Fort Monmouth, he was a physicist and an electronic engineer in the Signal Corps development unit which later became the Electronic Command. He was active in developing target location instrumentation. He was an associate professor at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, Middletown, where he taught mathematics and physics.

SAMUEL J. ERMILIO, 82, of Las Vegas, whose daughter lives in COLTS NECK TOWNSHIP, died Sunday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was the owner of Ermilio Brothers Superet, Brooklyn, for 29 years, retiring in 1973. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Brooklyn, the AMVETS, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was born in New York.

Surviving are his wife, Margit; a son, Joseph, Encino, two daughters, Patricia Caplanson, Colts Neck, and Jeanne Druse, Rock Hill, N.Y.; a sister, Theresa Rubino, Fort Lauderdale, and five grandchildren. Prior to that, he was a chemist for Mobay Chemical Union, for 26 years, retiring in 1976. He was a World War II Army veteran, and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179, Port Monmouth, Middletown Township, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Keansburg, a member of the Monday Night Independent Mixed Bowling League, and was secretary of the Thursday Night Alley Cats League, both at Stratmore Lanes, Aberdeen Township. He was a 1951 graduate of Utah State University, Logan, Utah. He was born in Elizabeth.

He was coordinating engineer and retired in 1976 from New Jersey Bell after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Canoe Brook Country Club, Summit, the Spring Lake Country Club, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering. He was an Eagle Scout. He was born in Newark. Surviving are his wife, Margaret D. Durkin Gebhard; a son, Richard Bel Air, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was a bookkeeper with Hudson United Bank, Cliffside Park, for 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Fairview.

Mrs. Giananto-nio was born in Cliffside Park. Her husband, Emil A. died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Emil A.

He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor, Old Bridge Township, and a member of the Madison Senior Citizens Club, Old Bridge. He was born in ments. HELEN V. LANG LAMO, 77, of MANASQUAN, died Sunday at home.

She was a communicant of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Manasquan. Mrs. Lamo was born in Cliff-side Park. Her husband, Marco A.

Sr. and her son, Marco both died in 1993. Surviving are a son, Ronald, and two daughters, Joy Triggiano and Judy Boden, all of Manasquan; a brother, Henry A. Lang, Waldwick, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Robert C.

Neary Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements. KEVIN H. NEWTON, 40, of KEANSBURG, died Saturday after a brief illness. He was a warehouseman for Reliable Trucking Elizabeth. Mr.

Newton was born in Red Bank. Surviving are his wife, Deborah Porcello Newton, Parlin, Sayreville; a son, Kevin, and a daughter, Jennifer, both at home; his parents, Ken and Elizabeth Newton, Keansburg; four brothers, John, Trenton, Thomas and Kenneth, both of Keansburg, and Robbie, West Keansburg, Hazlet Township, and his companion, Mary Gross, Toms River. She was a member of Church of the Ascension, and its Rosary Society. Mrs. Pipitone was born in Monte San Giovanni, Italy, and lived in the Shore area for the past 52 years. Her husband, Antonio, died in 1980, and her son, Orlando, died in 1994. Surviving is a daughter, Maria "Mary" Pipitone, at home.

HELEN ELIZABETH ANTHONY RUSSELL, 84, a lifelong resident of MATAWAN, died Saturday at Bay-shore Community Hospital, Holmdel Township. Mrs. Russell was a member of Second Baptist Church, Matawan, and a member of its senior usher board. She was also a member of the Seacoast Usher's Union.

Her husband, George died in 1956, and her son, William, died in 1982. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Mc Cord. Surviving are three daughters, Gwendolyn White, Jackson Township, Constance Malinconico, Matawan, and Shirley Lee, Keyport; 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. STIER, 59, of Largo, formerly of ASBURY PARK, died Saturday at Largo Medical Center Hospital. He retired as purchasing manager from Union Carbide Springfield. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Cape Coral, Fla. He was a graduate of Indiana University. Mr.

Stier was born in San Diego. Surviving are two sons, Michael Clearwater, and Matthew Largo; his mother, Lois Stier, Boise, Idaho; his father, Luther Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a brother, Ronald Houston. He was the proprieter of Tomaine's Fuel Oil Company in Elberon and also owned and operated the Sunoco Gas Station in Long Branch for many years. He was a charter member and past president of the Italian American Memorial Association, Long Branch, and was a member of the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Union Local 472, Newark. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Mr. Tomaine was born in Long Branch.

HENRY W. GILLESPIE 63, of SOUTH BELMAR, died yesterday at home. He was an electrician with Local 400, Wall Township, for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was a fire chief in South Belmar in 1964, a life member of the South Belmar Fire Department and its financial secretary for 28 years. He was a life member of the South Belmar Fireman's Relief Association and its treasurer.

He also was former captain and anda Tomaine; a son, Philip Long Branch; two daughters, Vivian Tomaine, Long Branch, and Phyllis Tomaine, Boston; a brother, Andrew Tomaine, Oceanport, and a sister, Mary Tomaine, Oceanport. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements. FRED DOUGLAS WILSON 23, of LONG BRANCH, died April 19 in Manhattan. He was a restaurant worker. Mr.

Wilson was born in New York. Surviving are his fiancee, Christine Mullen, and a daughter, Chloe Mullen-Wilson, both of Long Branch; his mother, Anne Wilson, and a brother, Sean Wilson, both of North Carolina; and a sister, Ernestine Green, Virginia. She was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel Township. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona. Mrs. Wood was born in Portland, Maine.

Surviving are her husband, John a son, Lt. Steven U.S. Navy, San Diego; two daughters, Stacy A. Wood, Philadelphia, and Julie L. Wood, at home, and a brother, Burton Smart, Lafayette, La.

John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements. DOROTHY JANE MORAN, 57, of OLD BRIDGE TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a production section leader at Stephenson Industries, Howell Township, retiring in January. She was a member of St.

Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge, and served in the Coast Guard. She was born in Shrewsbury. Surviving are her companion, Mar- Keyport, for 20 years. Mrs. Clay was a communicant of St.

Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Aberdeen Republican Club, an Aberdeen municipality committeewoman and a longtime Election Board worker. Mrs. Clay was born in Brooklyn. Her husband, Richard Charles, died in 1989.
