Paul Volkmar Lakewood Berkeley Township Marion Newman Mitchell Walter H. Wittenbrock Lynchburg, Va. Manchester Township Leroy James Dey, former councilman ENGLISHTOWN Leroy James Dey, 91, died yesterday at home. Mr. Dey was born in Old Bridge Township and lived in the area all his life.

He was a farmer in the area for many years. He was a former member of the Borough Council and the former borough police commissioner. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Krasnick; two daughters, Gertrude Mount, here, and Doris Oberhuber, Highland Park; a stepdaughter, Marie D. Turner, Springfield, a sister, Mary Walters, Jamesburg, five grandchildren and six great-grandchilHiggins Memorial Home, Free- hold, is in charge of arrangements. JESSE SCAVALLA, 65, of 612 15th Belmar, died yesterday at home.

Mr. Scavalla was born in Miami, and lived in Belmar for 40 years. He was a retired chef last employed at the New Jersey National Guard Training Center, Sea Girt. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy L. Latson; a son, Ronald, Belmar; two daughters, Wealthy Brown, Bimini, Bahamas, and Yvonne Reavers, Belmar; a brother, Joseph, Miami; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements. JEAN BRISCIONE RIZZO, 82, of Asbury Park, died yesterday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Rizzo was born in New York and lived in Deal before moving to Asbury Park in 1978.

She was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Her husband, Frank, died in 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Dolores G. Lemig, Asbury Park, and Lenore Calabrese, Gloucester Township; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements. PETER F. LENICH 67, of Matawan, died yesterday Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel Town- ship. Mr. Lenich was born in Hoboken and lived in Holmdel before moving to Matawan.

He was an ornamental iron and steel worker. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 545, Newark. Surviving are his wife, the former Carmella Donatelli; a son, Peter, Keansburg; a daughter, Catherine Baird, Union Beach; three brothers, John, Jersey City, William, Holmdel, and Frances, Hazlet Township; four sisters, Mary Geremia, Jersey City, Helen Candito, Union, Lucille Donato, Red Bank, and Ann LoFrano, Middletown Township, and five grandchildren. John J. Ryan Home For Funerals, Keansburg, is in charge of arrange- ments.

PETER W. RODGERS, 78, of Monmouth Beach, a retired self-em- ployed contractor, died Sunday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Mr. Rodgers was born in New York and lived in Middletown Township before moving to Monmouth Beach in 1960. He was a communicant of Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son, Robert Barnegat; a sister, Catherine Arratia, Mexico City, and two grandchildren. Worden Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements. MARIE A. SHAFFER, 73, of Atlantic Highlands, died Sunday at home. Mrs.

Shaffer was born in Newark and lived in Atlantic Highlands for 44 years. Her husband, Clark, died in 1973. Surviving are a son, Clark H. Little Silver; two daughters, Sally Curitz, Atlantic Highlands, and Nancy Zsak, Fort Lauderdale; a sister, Catherine Murphy, Lakewood, and four grandchildren. Posten's Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands, is in charge of arrangements.

EMILY A. JOHNSON, of Navesink, Middletown Township, died yesterday at home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Ocean Township and lived in Atlantic Highlands and Highlands before moving to Middletown nine years ago. She was a board secretary and business administrator for Henry Hudson Regional High School, Highlands, retiring in 1977.

Prior to this she was a secretary at the Highlands Elementary School. She was a member of the Highlands United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert three sons, Daniel Bradley Beach; Richard Shrewsbury Township, and Robert at home; a daughter, Emilie Long Branch; two brothers, William Covert, Middletown, and George, Eatontown; a sister, Mary Jane Stacey, Belmar, and two granddaughters. Posten's Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands, is in charge of arrange- ments. CHARLES B.

ROEDE, 77, of Fair Haven, died yesterday at the Veterans Hospital, East Orange. Mr. Roede was born in West Hoboken and lived in La Grange, before moving to Fair Haven 11 years ago. He retired in 1972 as director of research and development for the R.R. Donnelley and Sons Chicago, after 20 years.

Mr. Roede was an Army veteran of World War II and was a lieutenant colonel in the Amry reserves. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank. Mr. Rode also was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity; of Tau Beta Pi, an honorary engineering society; of the New Jersey Professional Engineers, and of the Retired Officers Association Central New Jersey Chapter.

Surviving are his wife, the former Martha Lohm; two sons, John Newtown Square, and Arthur Kinston, N.C.; two daughters, Janet E. Ashcroft, Jefferson City, and Anne. J. Giddings, Cheshire, two sisters, Ethel Meystre, Glenn Ridge, and Marion L. Roede, Plainfield, and 10 grandchildren.

Adams Memorial Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements. at Freehold Area Hospital, Freehold Township. Mrs. Kusnetschenko was born in Russia and lived in the Howell area for many years. She was a member of St.

Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church, Howell. Surviving are her husband, Peter Kuznets; a daughter, Lydia Alonso, Freehold, and a grandchild. Lakewood Funeral Home, Howell, is in charge of arrangements. ANNA KUSNETSCHENKO, 84, of Howell Township, died Sunday KNUTE P. HUSTEAD, 26, of Howell Township, died Sunday at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Route 9 Sunday evening.

Mr. Hustead was born in Jersey City and lived in Bayonne before moving to the Shore area 22 years ago. He was a self-employed artist working out of Tradewinds Studio, Lakewood. Surviving is his mother, Edith Hustead, Howell. Lakewood 1 Funeral Home, Howell, is in charge of arrangements.

ANTHONY SIANO, 72, of Avon, died yesterday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Siano was born i in New York City and lived in Asbury Park from 1922 until 1961. He was a salesman for Fisher Baking Asbury Park, retiring in 1964. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park. Surviving 'are his wife, the former Mary Buonocore; a son, Peter, Ocean Township; a daughter, Concetta Reid, Avon; a brother, Jack, Neptune, and five grandchildren. SPAETH, 73, of Toms River, died Sunday at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. Spaeth was born in Newark and lived in Newark for most of her life before moving to Toms River three years ago. She was a machine operator at Yale Hook and Eye Newark, for, 30 years, retiring in 1969. WILLIAM DURBEC, 69, of Lanoka Harbor, Lacey Township, died Saturday at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. Mr. Durbec was born in Union City and lived in Jersey City before moving to Lanoka Harbor. He was a mixer for the Colgate Palmolive Jersey City, retiring eight years His wife, Cienevieve, died in 1979.5 Surviving are a son, Peter, two daughters, Marcella Nebbia, and Kathy Smythe, and six grandchildren.
