A16 Asbury Park PressThursday, April 24, 1 986 Obituaries Herbert McDavit, PY-sHinnl nffirinl Honoria M. Horner, former school nurse Daniel a. van eeuwen sr 46, of Wall Township, died Monday at home. Born in Franklin Lakes, he lived in West Belmar, Wall, for 1 1 years. Mr.

Van Eeuwen owned and operated Daniel's Plumbing and Heating, Wall, and he also restored old houses. Surviving are a son, Daniel A. and a daughter, Nancy, both Kinnelon; his mother, Agnes, Freehold; and a sister, Hanna Neiss, Paterson. Richards Funeral Home, River-dale, is in charge of arrangements. MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP Herbert W.

McDavit, 71, a longtime educational administrator and consultant, died Sunday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was born in East Orange and lived in Andover before moving here several years ago. Mr. McDavit was educational consultant and temporary superintendent for several years at the Southern Regional School District, Stafford Township, and the Rumson-Fair Haven school system. Before that, he was executive director of the New Jersey Association of Elementary School Administrators for five years.

After various teaching positions, he became principal of the Clinton School in 1947 and was assistant superintendent and superintendent in the East Orange-Maplewood school system from 1957 to 1972. He attended the Newark State Normal School, Newark State Teachers College (now Kean College) and Rutgers University. He received his doctorate in 1952 from Columbia University. Mr. McDavit was to receive an award on May 16 from the New Jersey Principals and Superintendents Association for distinguished service in the educational field.

He received an honorary doctor of letters from Newark State College and a citation for distinguished service for education from his fellow alumni there. Mr. McDavit was a member of the American Association of School Administrators, New Jersey Council of Education, the New Jersey School Masters Club, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the South Orange-Maplewood and the Manchester adult school boards and the advisory committee co-chairman at Ocean County College. Surviving are his wife, the former Maria Keisler, two daughters, Maryel-len White, Maplewood Township, and Susan Drelich, Mahwah Township; and four grandchildren. LORENA VAN SICKLE LADERS, 86, of Berkeley Township, died Tuesday at Bartley Manor Convalescent Center, Jackson Township. Born in Islip, N.Y., she lived in Union City and New Milford before moving to Holiday City at Berkeley one year ago. Her husband, Charles, died in 1978. Horner, 68, of Moorehouse Road, a former township school nurse, died yesterday at home. Born in New Monmouth, Middle-town Township, she lived here for 39 years. Mrs. Horner, who was known as "Sis," was a registered nurse and a graduate of the Monmouth' Medical Center School of Nursing, Long Branch. She also was school nurse for the Plumsted Township Board of Education for 20 years.

She was an Ocean County Public Health nurse and later was a nurse at the Meadow Lakes Nursing Home, Hightstown. She was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption, here, and a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society. Surviving are husband, Anthony, three sons, Anthony Allentown, Philip, Bordentown, and Ward, here; two brothers, Thomas Leach, Punta Gorda, and John Leach, Ocean Township; and four grandchildren. KREIE, 81, of Lacey Township, died Tuesday at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. Born in Newark, he lived in Vails-burg, Newark, before moving to Lacey in 1972. He was storekeeper for the City of Newark, motors division, for 47 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of National Turners, the Vailsburg Bowling League, and Old Guard of Forked River. Surviving are his wife, the former Mae Emmel; a daughter, Robert J.

Hodges, and a sister, Alis Hansen, both Scotch Plains Township; and two grandchildren. Riggs Funeral Home, Lacey, is in -charge of arrangements. ElLEEN BOWMAN, 76, of Stafford Township, died Tuesday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. Mrs. Bowman, who was known as was born in Hoboken and lived in Saddle Brook Township and Jersey City before moving to Manahawkin, Stafford, in 1978.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Long Beach Township. Surviving are her husband, William; three sons, William, Keansburg, Donald, Carlstadt, and Paul, Bowie, a daughter, Eileen Hefferman, Westwood; a sister, Anne Norton, Englewood; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. schweizer, 78, of Berkeley Township, died yesterday at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. Born in New York, he lived in Brooklyn before moving to Silver Ridge Park 15 years ago. He was a plant superintendent for American District Telegraph New York and Clifton, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the East Dover Baptist Church, Toms River, the Sheepshead Bay (N.Y.) Yacht Club; the Silver Ridge Park Homeowners Association; and the Silver Ridge Park Chapter 2471, American Association of Retired Persons. Surviving are his wife, the former -Adele Miller, a son Roland, Huntington, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrange ments. FRED J. MATHER, 63, of Mana- hawkin, Stafford Township, died yesterday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. Born in Highland Park, he lived there before moving to Stafford in 1973. Mr.

Mather was a surveyor and draftsman. He last worked for Bud Dowling Engineering East wick Township, retiring in 1973. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Silzer, a sister, Eleanor Hansen, Englewood; and four nephews. Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom, is in charge of arrangements.

George w. Anderson, 85, of Brick Township, died Tuesday at Summit Nursing Home, Lakewood. Born in Jersey City, he lived there before moving to Brick 16 years ago. Mr. Anderson, who was known as "Willie," was a detective for Central Railroad, Jersey City, for more than 40 years, retiring 20 years ago.

Gussie klafter, 85, of Long Branch, died yesterday at Monmouth Medical Center. Born in New York, she lived in Brooklyn before moving to Long Branch in 1980.

Her husband, Harry died in 1962. Surviving are two daughters, Stella Sloan, Long Branch, and Dorothy Lavender, Honolulu; a brother, William Oberhard, and two sisters, Fay Han-shaft and Ruth Karger, all Brooklyn; four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Tunnero lived in Spring Lake Heights most of her life. She was a legal secretary, retiring in 1975. Mrs. Tunnero was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake.

SIGMUND, 87, of Middletown Township, died Monday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he lived in Highlands before moving to Middletown Township five years ago.

Mr. Sigmund was a supervisor for Bendix Eatontown, for 30 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Bendix Retirement Club, the American Association of Retired Persons and Daniel Towers Senior Citizens Tenants Association, Middletown Township. Surviving are a son, William, Middletown; a daughter, Ellen Sayre, San Antonio, Texas; a brother, William, Winston-Salem, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. John P.

Born in Ascoli Satriano, Italy, she came to this country in 1914 and lived in Newark and Union before moving to Hazlet 22 years ago. She was a bookkeeper for Essex Travel Agency, Newark, for 18 years, retiring in 1976. Surviving are a son, Nicholas R.

Mrs. Tabor was a beautician at the Colonial House, Fair Haven, for 17 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank. Her husband, Charles died in 1960. Surviving is a sister, Dorothy West Muller, with whom she lived.

Mr. Bennett owned and operated the Palomino Riding Academy and the Allaire Riding Academy, both here, for many years. He was a former mayor, committeeman, police commissioner and justice of the peace, here. He was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove; the Ocean Grove First Aid Squad; a 50-year member of Stokes Fire Company 3, Ocean Grove; and the Ocean Grove Auditorium Ushers; and a life member of Hannah-Crosman Post 2233, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pettit was born in Red Bank and lived there before moving to Middletown 35 years ago. He was a postal clerk at the Red Bank post office for 25 years, retiring seven years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a communicant of St Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Soffel; a son, T. JENNIE E. AMM, 96, of Freehold, died yesterday at Freehold Conva-Cen-ter, Freehold Township. She was born in Wantage Township and lived in Newton before moving to Freehold 69 years ago. She was secretary in the personnel records department at Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1959. Before that, she managed the Tea Room at the Christopher House, Freehold.
