He was a fiction writer and was a student at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. attended Manalapan High School and graduated from Howell High School. He had attended Franklin Pierce College, Rindge, N.H., and Richmond College, London, England. Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Freehold before moving to New Brunswick.

He recently returned to Freehold. Surviving are his parents, Frederick John Young Sr. a and Patricia Helber Young, with whom he lived; four brothers, Carl, Matthew, Steven and Christopher Young; a sister, Joy Young; and his paternal grandfather, Harold Young, all of Freehold. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

today at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Freehold. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. OCEAN ANT, died Wednesday at her son John's home. She was a registered nurse at Paul Kimball Hospital, Lakewood, for 10 years before having kids, and was owner, operator and partner with her husband of the Lakewood Bus Terminal and Tourtime Travel, both in Lakewood.

She was one of three children. Born in New York City, she was a lifelong resident of Brick, Point Pleasant and Lakewood. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Brown, in 1977. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert L.

and Gaile Adams of Wall, and John R. and Ann Adams of Point Pleasant; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Thomas Zulick of Rensselaer, N.Y., and Linda Karen of Miami, 14 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road at Highway 70, Brick, with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

MARGARET EUNICE SMITH BROWN, 81, of POINT PLEAS- JOSEPH M. CRANMER of BARNEGAT, died June 5 at Barnegat Nursing Home. He worked for 25 years for the Ocean County Sign Shop as a supervisor, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of Mariners Masonic Lodge 150, Barnegat. He was an Army veteran. He was a parishioner of Barnegat Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Frances R. Cranmer; a daughter, Abigail Cranmer; and a son, Joseph C.

Cranmer. A memorial service will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Crosswinds Clubhouse, 184 Bayshore Drive, Barnegat. JOHN DE SIO, 80, of Holiday City West, BERKELEY, died Wednesday. He was predeceased by a brother, Rocco; and a sister, Lucy LoPiccolo.

Surviving are his wife, Carmela a son and daughter-in-law, John and Yvonne of Staten Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joseph Pellechi of Long Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Nancy; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Laura, Elizabeth, and JoAnne; a sister-inlaw, Genevieve DeSio; and a brother-in-law, Joseph LoPiccolo. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. today at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Staten Island. A Mass will be offered 9:45 a.m.

VITO DI NAPOLI, 90, a lifelong resident of Newark, with relatives in OCEAN AND MONMOUTH COUNTIES, died yesterday at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville. He was an assembler for Federal Pacific Electric Newark, for many years, retiring 25 years ago. Earlier he had been employed in the same capacity with Westinghouse Newark, for years.

During that time, he tended bar part-time at Nicas- tro's Restaurant and Vesuvius Restaurant, both of Newark. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Anne Fiorella DiNapoli; a brother, Nicholas DiNapoli; and three sisters, Jean Ruggerio, Joan Coyeman, and Margie DiNapoli. Surviving are two daughters and sons-inlaw, Judy and Ray Sackmann of Toms River, and Elaine and James Metz of Kearny; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Sue DiNapoli of Belmar, and Daniel DiNapoli of Belleville; and seven grandchildren, Raymond and Tracy Sackmann, Jaime and Sherrie Metz, Angela and Marissa DiNapoli, and Daniel DiNapoli Jr. Visitation will be from: 2 to 4 p.m.

Francis Assisi Parish, Brant Beach. She was also a member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, SOCH Hospital Boosters, Loveladies Harbor Organization, and the Beach Haven Yacht Club. She particularly liked volunteerism, being a volunteer worker at SOCH's Admittance Department for many years and a very successful fund-raiser for Deborah Hospital. While raising her four children in Berkeley Heights, she managed to be active in the PTA, very active in the Girl Scouts as a Brownie leader for years, and a part-time employee of Summit Bank. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she spent most of her life in New Jersey, particularly in Berkeley Heights before moving to Loveladies 16 years ago.

Surviving are her husband, David Norman; three daughters, Patricia, Kathleen and Joann; a son, Stephan; and eight grandchildren, Caryn, Michael, Kristen, Amy, Scot, Ashly, Corbin and Jamie. Viewing hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday at St.

Francis Assisi Parish, Brant Beach. Burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

She was a homemaker and a communicant of the Church of the Visitation, Brick. Born in Hoboken, she lived in Brick since 1973.

Her husband, Hector Levanti, died in 1987. Surviving are a son, Thomas Woll of Brick; a sister-in-law, Julia Woll of Brick; two nephews, James Woll and Robert Woll; and two nieces, Barbara Kennedy and Marguerite Cohen. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ocean County Memorial Park. GERALDINE E. PEGG, 79, of TOMS RIVER, died yesterday at Green Acres Manor, Toms River. She was a technician for RCA in Harrison for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

Born in Staten Island, she lived in Bayonne and Carteret before moving to Toms River in 1995. Surviving are a sister, Marilyn J. Panaccione of Toms River; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visiting will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River.

ton. NANCY J. POZOWICZ, 66, of LITTLE EGG HARBOR, died yesterday at home. She was a bus driver for the Toms River Regional school system for 25 years, retiring in 1998. She was a former member of the East Dover First Aid Squad.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kent and Patricia Taney of Easton, and Keith Taney and Curt Taney, both of Sonoma County, two sisters, Lois Quinn of Wildwood, and Eileen Hendrickson of Naples, eight grandchildren; and his special friend and stand partner, Walteen Horchner of Toms River.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Funeral services will be private. BENEDICT F. TRONCONE, 79, of NORMANDY BEACH, formerly of South Orange, died Wednesday at Brick Hospital.

He was an electrical contractor and owner of B. Troncone South Orange, from 1951 until retiring in 2000. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange. He was a member of Atlantic Highlands Marina Yacht Club; the Orange Elks; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Orange. He was a 1950 graduate of Bloomfield Technical School with a degree in electrical contracting.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving in both the Pacific and European Theaters. He was in the African Campaign with Gen. Montgomery against Rommel, and also was in the Battle of Assisi in Italy. He was an avid fish- erman. Born in Orange, he lived in South Orange for 37 years before moving to Normandy Beach two years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Jean DeRose Troncone; a daughter, Linda Wallace; a sister, Lucille Abend; two granddaughters, Randi Unger and Lindsay Nunn; and a great-grandchild, Jesse Unger. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Maplewood.

WILKINSON, 74, of MANCHESTER, died yesterday at home. Born in Newark, she lived in South Toms River before moving to Manchester 11 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter William Wilkinson in 1990; and a son, Walter William in 2002. Surviving are a son, Arthur of South Toms River; two daughters, Margaret Frazee of Rogers, and Gladys Zakar of Manchester; a brother, Arthur Wells of Egg Harbor; two sisters, Lois Sprague and Slyvania Conklin, both of Tryon, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great children. A chapel service and interment will be held 11 a.m.

July 11 at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. DeGraff Cremation Services, Lakehurst, is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM A. YOCUM. 46, of Lanoka Harbor, LACEY, died Wednesday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was employed by MJB Construction, Brick, as a framer. He was a parishioner of St.

Pius Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, Lacey. Surviving are his wife, Lisa; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Kristina of Browns Mills, and Michael of Lanoka Harbor; his mother, Helena Yocum of Millville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Carmen of Vineland, and Thomas and Maryannice of Norrington, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Michael Guaciaro of Rexford, N.Y., and Helena and Anthony Barone of Egg Harbor City; and a grandson, Jonathan Thomas Yocum. She was a clerk with Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, for 21 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Cheesequake Village Association and a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor.

Born in Newark, she lived in Orange before moving to Old Bridge 18 years ago. Her husband, Edward C. O'Brien, died Oct. 24, 1978. Surviving are her children, Edward J.

He was an engineer and lab technician at Western Electric, Kearny, for 30 years, and the Geology Department at Jersey City University, Jersey City, for 11 years, retiring several years ago. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Jersey City before moving to Bayonne 17 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Keenan Demytrk; two sons, Peter and Mark; a daughter-inlaw, Nereida; a sister, Jean Gentilello; and six grandchildren, Christina, Benjamin, Stephanie, Lisa, Mitchell and Laura. Services were private at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Union City.

ELSEWHERE DERREK DICKEY, who won an NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors and worked as a broadcaster for the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls, died Tuesday at home. He was 51.

"They think it was probably a heart attack, but they don't know," said his wife, Sally Simonds. Since suffering a near-fatal stroke on Nov. 4, 1997, in Chicago, Dickey had very limited use of his left side. After that, he helped the American Heart Association launch a program called "Saving Strokes" that used golf to help stroke victims in their recovery. Dickey, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward, played five seasons in the NBA, helping Golden State sweep the Washington Bullets for the league championship in 1975.

Dickey set a Finals record that still stands by shooting 73.9 percent from the field, making 17-of-23 field goal attempts. He ended his playing career with the Bulls in 1977-78. After doing broadcast work for the University of Cincinnati, Dickey spent three seasons as the Kings' color commentator. He also worked for CBS, ESPN, Jefferson Pilot and Raycom. Dickey's last job was as a radio analyst for the Bulls.

The Associated Press FORREST ENGLAND. former football coach at Arkansas State and the University of Toledo, died Tuesday. He was 89. England had been in poor health recently, but a cause of death wasn't known, said his daughter-in-law, Dee England. England had a record of 49-21-9 as coach at Arkansas State from 1946-53.

He was the athletic director and head coach at Toledo from 1954-57. After two seasons as coach at Toledo, England had two heart attacks in two years and his contract was not renewed. He had a record of 9-7-2 in two seasons. England received his bachelor's degree from Illinois College, which named its football stadium Frosty and Lois England Field. The Associated Press NELLIE MONK, wife and muse of the jazz musician Thelonious Monk, died Tuesday.

She was 80. Born Nellie Smith in St. Petersbrug, she moved to New York with her family and met Thelonious Monk at the age of 16 at a neighborhood basketball court. Throughout their nearly fourdecade relationship, Thelonious Monk, who was known as an eccentric absorbed in his work, depended on his wife for financial and emotional support. Nellie Monk worked as a' seamstress during World War II, and afterward occasionally made clothes for her husband and others.
