ASBURY PARK PRESS FRIDAY, SEPT. 14,2007 OB OBITUARIES Additional obituaries A13 A12 KYLE S. ELTON, 21, a lifelong resident of HAZLET, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Kyle was born in Long Branch and was the son of Michael J.

and Beth Dickey Elton of Hazlet. He worked as a mechanic. Kyle enjoyed four wheeling on his ATV. Kyle touched so many lives in his short life. He had a way of wrapping himself around your heart.

His parents and sisters will love and miss him forever. Kyle is survived by three sisters, Jennifer, wife of Lester Dinunzio of Middletown, Kathryn Elton of Hazlet, and Melanie Elton of Rhode Island; his aunts and uncles, Steven and Miriam Elton, George and Linda Dickey, and Joseph and Katherine Massari; and his niece and nephew, Dakota and Caleb Dinunzio. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.

Monday at Scott Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church Belford. The funeral service will be held at noon Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to BARBARA GELLMAN, 78, of Deerfield Beach, formerly of FREEHOLD, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12.

She spent most of her life in Freehold, where she was a leader in the real estate business for 30 years. She was part of the first bat mitzvah class at Congregation Agaduth Achim and later was the president of the Sisterhood there. She enjoyed spending many good times with her family and playing mah-jongg with her friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney, who passed away on July 9. She leaves behind three caring and devoted children, Marc Gellman, Ronni Popluder, and Fern Konners; four grandchildren, Marlee and Jeff Popluder, and Allison and Julie Konners; a daughter-in-law, Jill Turner; and two sons-in-law, Mark Popluder and Bruce Konners.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 7500 RD 7, Coconut Creek, Fla. Interment will follow at Eternal Light Memorial Garden, Boynton Beach, Fla. JOSEPH J. HERMAN, 76, of HOWELL, died Wednesday, Sept.

12, at home. Born in New York City, he lived in Freehold for most of his life. Mr. Herman was a math and science teacher for the Freehold Township schools. He was a member of the German-American Club, Howell, and the East Freehold Fire Company.

He was a leader for Troop 158, Boy Scouts of America, Freehold. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1672, Freehold. He was a communicant of St. Veronica's Church, Howell; and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Herman and Justin Herman; three daughters, Jessica Herman, Cheryl A. Herman, and Lisa A. Herman; and a grandson, Joseph Dylan Herman. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Freehold.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Maplewood Chapel Mausoleum, Freehold. PATRICIA "PAT" ANN LACKEMACHERHALKENHAUSER. 62, of SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS, died Sunday, Sept.

9, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Route 195 in Jackson. Pat had been employed as the planning and administrative services manager for Lab Volt Wall, for the past 27 years. She was a One Year Remembrance for Christopher J. Ackerman formerly of Matawan, NJ, who passed on Sept. 9th, 2006 at his home in Boca Raton, FL Catholic Memorial Service to be held this Saturday, Sept.

LANDRY, 82, of Co- conut Creek, formerly of BELMAR, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 7, with Hughie, her husband of 62 years, at her side. Mom will be always in the hearts of her five children, Walter and Eileen of Florida, Ronnie of Neptune, David of Freehold, and Billy of New York; her daughters-in-law, Janet and Barbara; and her sonin -law, Brian. Mom has 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom, you will be dearly missed by all of us.

We want you to know how much you have enriched our souls. We thank you for what we were, what we are, and what we are yet to become. We feel content in our hearts knowing that you are at peace and free at last. Please know that you will never walk alone and that every day, we get a bit closer to seeing you again. PROF. MAUREEN O'BRIEN, 64, of MATAWAN, died Monday, Sept. 10, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Perth Amboy, Prof. O'Brien resided in Matawan since 1987 and previously lived in Edison, Colts Neck, Somerset and Metuchen, as well as New York City.

A professor of English at New Jersey City University (NJCU, formerly Jersey City State College), Jersey City, Prof. O'Brien was an NJCU English Department faculty member from fall 1967 through spring 2007. She achieved the ranks of associate professor in 1980 and full professor in 1999. She served on the NJCU Writing Committee for student placement and edited the Academic Forum, an NJCU faculty publication. A 1967 graduate of the University of Iowa Writers' (Poetry) Workshop with a of Fine Arts degree, Prof.

O'Brien passionately embraced great literature and specialized 1 in teaching creative writing courses. She also developed and taught courses on the short story, American and British literature, logic, critical thinking, writing for business, composition and remedial college writing. During her 40 years in NJCU's classrooms, Prof. O'Brien imparted the basic and nuanced points of language, literature, human awareness and ethics to thousands of students, including a woman who went on to attend the Iowa Writers' Workshop. While teaching at NJCU, Prof.

O'Brien also earned a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University; she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 from Georgian Court College, Lakewood, before proceeding to Iowa. Prof. O'Brien was also deeply committed to the well-being of domestic and wild animals, and worked tirelessly as a volunteer in sup port of a number of area animal shelters, as well as the spaying and neutering of feral cats. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Nolan O'Brien of Perth Amboy, in 1981; and her father, Kean College's Dean Emeritus Dr. Alton D.

O'Brien, who resided with her in Matawan for 10 years prior to his death in 1997. She is survived by numerous cousins, friends and students whose lives she uniquely touched. Viewing hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Flynn Sons Funeral Home, 23 Ford Fords. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

11, at home. He was born in Brooklyn and resided in Howell for the past 40 years. He was rishioner of St. Veronica's Roman Catholic Church, Howell. He was a U.S.

Navy veteran. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann in 1986. Surviving are two sisters, Gloria Caravello of Freehold, and Marion Minor of Tacoma, and a host of nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St.

Veronica's Roman Catholic Church, Howell. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Lakewood Funeral Home, Howell, is in charge of arrangements. INGER NYBORG CHRISTENSEN SAVOTH of LITTLE SILVER passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born Aug. 2, 1928, in Kobenhavn (Copenhagen), Denmark, she was the only child of Hilda and Frederick Nyborg.

She was raised as a young girl in Nyboder, a group of buildings constructed under order of King Christian IV in 1631. Inger first traveled to America at age 9, visiting Wisconsin and other states. She continued living in Nyboder through World War II and was involved as a child in Resistance activities. Her father served the entire war in the Underground as one of the heads of the Resistance. Inger held several positions as a young woman after the war, including as an overseas operator in Copenhagen and one of the first airline stewardesses for SAS.

As an employee of Naerum Nylon, she invented panty hose. She also modeled on occasion. Inger was well-traveled through the mid-1950s, spending time in nearly all European countries and also in the Middle East, especially Cairo, Egypt. She served as a translator in NATO reparations assignments. She had command of more than five languages.

She eventually returned to school, beginning a law degree at the University of Copenhagen. She was also an accomplished non-professional cartoonist and read and wrote voraciously throughout her life. On March 8, 1958, she married Charles P. Savoth II, moving to West Long Branch. The couple operated the White Sands Beach Club as well as the Red Barn until 1966.

On Nov. 18, 1961, Inger and Charlie had their only child, Charles P. Savoth "Vike" III. They moved to Little Silver in 1966. Inger re mained in their home following the death of her husband in 1987; the home is now occupied by her son, Charles P.

Savoth III. Inger was predeceased by her parents and husband. She leaves behind her son, Vike, as well as her nephew and close personal friend, Ken Moog, 57, of Long Branch. She also leaves behind beloved friends, Anne LeFevre, the entire Maida family of Bill, Anne Lise, Lise Marie, and Daniel Maida of the Colts Neck area, and Anne and Bill Sokol of Summit. In Denmark, she leaves behind her friend since she was 8 years old, Inger Agerlin Petersen and her family, as well as her dear friends, Helge and Wulff Hoegh-Petersen.

A service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 818 Tinton Tinton Falls, www.luthermemorialchurchtintonfalls.org. She will ultimately be laid to rest at Holmens Kirke in Copenhagen, the Royal Danish Naval Church. WALTER S. STYCZYNSKI, 88, of MARLBORO, passed away Thursday, Sept.

13, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Adams, he lived in Brooklyn before moving to Marlboro 20 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Walter served his country in the U.S.

Navy during World War II. He was a maintenance supervisor for Con Edison, Manhattan, for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He was predeceased by his wife, Loretta, in 2005. He is survived, by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Diane of Freehold, and Roger and Marianne of Hazlet; his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Siniscalchi of Manalapan; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m.

MARGARET W. TANNER, 86, of Bentley Village, Naples, formerly of FREEHOLD, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Care Center at Bentley Village. She was a member of the Moorings Presbyterian Church, Naples, Fla. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Freehold, and 1 in her earlier years was a lyric soprano soloist in the choir.

She loved tennis and golf and had played for many years at various clubs to which she had belonged, including Quail Creek Country Club, the Moorings Country Club, the Naples Bath and Tennis Club and the YMCA, all of Naples, Fla. She was a former member of the Holland Orchards Golf and Tennis Club and the Countryside Bath and Tennis Club, both of Marlboro. Daughter of the late Eustace White and Margaret Fraser White, she is survived by her beloved husband, Arnold Tanner. She was the loving mother of Dr. David E.

Tanner and his wife Belinda Jean of North Attleborough, Mass. She is also survived by two brothers, E. James White and his wife Marian of Willow Valley, and Roger A. White and his wife Carmela of Eatontown. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Monday, Sept. 24, at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Freehold. Inurnment will follow at the family plot in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Donations in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Freehold, 81 W. Main Freehold, NJ 07728, would be appreciated.

EVELYN S. VAN SICLEN, 79, of Merritt Island, formerly of FAIR HAVEN, died Monday, Sept. 3, at home. She was born in Baton Rouge, and lived in Fair Haven before moving to Merritt Island in 1995. Following graduation from Louisiana State University, she was an art teacher and later enjoyed raising her three daughters.

She was active with the Monmouth Boat Club and was a past president of the MBC Ladies Auxiliary and past editor of the yearbook and the newsletter, the Binnacle. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Wallace D. Van Siclen; her daughters and sons-in-law, Crissy Van Siclen of Sea Bright, Katrinka and Marco Burenko of Merritt Island, and Jannetje and Kevin McManus of Fair Haven; and four grandsons, Jason Bart DiSanto and Kyle and Derek McManus. DOROTHY MAY VAN CLEEF of Hagerstown, formerly of MIDDLETOWN, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Washing.

12. Beverly was born in Englewood and was the daughter of Helen and the late John Burns. She was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School, Englewood, and Rutgers University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a minor in criminal justice. She also received an MBA degree in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Beverly was the director of publicity for the Prentice Hall division of Simon Schuster for 10 years. An avid athlete for years, she ran in competitive road races, was a swim instructor at the YMCA and figure-skated in her spare time. Her passions were good books, long nature walks with her cherished dogs, Cinnamon and Freckles, and spending time with her family on vacation. Her incredible intellect, compassionate heart and lively personality will be sorely missed. She is survived by loving husband of 28 years, Robert; her beautiful daughters, Jennifer, Tracey, and Christine, all of Marlboro; a brother, Jack Burns of Dumont; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Stephen Racich of Montvale; a sister and brother-inlaw, Linda and Donald Irvin of Howell; a sister and brother-inlaw, Janet Burns and Donald Staback of Millstone; two brothers-inlaw, Neil and Peter Vill; two sisters-in-law, Carrie and Virginia Vill; her beloved mother-in-law and father-in-law, Neil and Maura Vill of Englewood Cliffs; and her 10 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to the Associated Humane Societies and Popcorn Park Zoo, Evergreen Newark, NJ 07114-2133. OCEAN JESSE W. ANDERSON. veteran, former mayor, lifelong firefighter, 74, of SEASIDE PARK, died Monday, Sept. 10.

Jesse was born May 30, 1933, in Trenton and was the son of the late Jesse W. and Amy Adams Anderson. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School; the U.S. Army Signal School at Camp Gordon, after which he was stationed in Germany as a cryptography specialist in the U.S. Army Signal Corps; and the New Jersey State Police Municipal Academy, in the 50th class.

Jesse served the Borough of Seaside Park in one capacity or another from 1951 until his death. A 30-year veteran of the Seaside Park Police Force, he was an instructor for the Ocean County Police Academy, past president of the Ocean County Crime Preven- tion Officer's Association, and retired as detective lieutenant and acting police chief in Seaside Park in 1988. He founded the town's award-winning recycling program, and was elected a member of the Borough Council in 1992, completing the last nine months of his fourth term as mayor of Seaside Park. I He served as attendance officer for Seaside Park and Seaside Heights elementary schools until his death. Community and service organizations always played an important part in his life.

Jesse was a former member of the Colonial Fire Company in Trenton, past treasurer of the Ocean County Historical Society, treasurer of the Seaside Park Gun Club, a life member and former captain of Tri-Boro First Aid Squad, and a life member and former president of Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. This past June, he was honored for "50 years of dedicated and continuous service" with the fire company, including 43 years as Santa Claus at its annual children's Christmas party. Jesse was an active scouter with the Jersey Shore Council (formerly the Ocean County Council) of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as the Scoutmaster of Troop 22 for six years, and in a variety of leadership roles within the council, leader including chairman of the District Committee, the Camping Committee and the Council Executive Board. Jesse also was a Vigil Honor member of the Schiwa' Pew Names Lodge of the Order of the Arrow, where he held a number of leadership roles.

He was the recipient of many scouting awards, including the Silver Beaver, the highest award a council can bestow upon a volunteer. Jesse was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lavallette for years, and while there many, earned the Lamb Award, an award made by the Lutheran Church and the Boy Scouts recognizing adults who have rendered extraordinary service to youth. More recently, Jesse had become a member of the Union Church of Seaside Park. Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, D. Gail Erwin Anderson; his sons and daughtersin law, Jesse Mark and Susan and of Worcester, Matthew Jane of Fairfax, and Andrew and Susan of Toms River; his three grandchildren, Eric, Gregory and Brian; and many loving family and friends.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a fireman's service at 6 p.m. at Tri-Boro First Aid Squad, Street, Seaside Park. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Tri-Boro First Aid, with interment to follow at Brig.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company, Tri-Boro First Aid Squad in Seaside Park, the Jersey Shore Council of the Boy Scouts of America, or the Union Church in SeasidePark. LUCILLE BIGELOW BELLMER, 87, formerly of Forked River, LACEY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Mount Laurel. Born in Rochester, she lived in Mount Laurel for the past five years, moving there from Forked River, where she lived for 20 years. A former bookkeeper with the Western Union Marketing Services in Union City, she was very active in the Forked River area. She was the beloved wife of Martin A.

Bellmer and the loving mother of Diane M. Rutter of Windsor, and Arlene N. Ulozas of Tabernacle. She is also survived by her brother, Calvin Bigelow of Oregon; and her grandchildren, Renee A. Cavaluzzi of Gloucester, and Kraag V.A.

Ulozas of West Chester, Pa. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 5 p.m. Saturday until her memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Bradley Stow Funeral Home, 127 MedfordMount Holly Road, Medford. Interment will be private in Brig.

CORLESS DePIETRO of LAVALLETTE passed away Thursday, Sept. 1 13, at home. She was born Feb. 16, 1921, on Staten Island. She grew up in West New York, and after marriage lived in Weehawken and Fort Lee.

She moved to Lavallette in 1989 after summering there for many years. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Hoboken, in the Class of 1943. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Hoboken, and St.

Clare's Hospital, New York City. She was later named director of volunteers for St. Mary's Hospital. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Hospital Women's Auxiliary for many years, chairing many charitable events.

Upon moving to Lavallette, she was an active member of the Lavallette First Aid Squad Auxiliary, the Lavallette Senior Citizens Organization, Catholic Daughters, the Deborah Society and the Altar Rosary Society of St. Bonaventure's Parish, where she was a parishioner and eucharistic minister. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Vincent DePie tro, who passed away in 1979. She was also predeceased by her parents, Richard and Julia Kelly Corless; and her brother, Richard Corless.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Corless Royer of Lavallette, Kathleen Maggioni of Savannah, Dr. Anthony DePietro of Towaco, Judith Mekles of Lavallette, and Richard DePietro of Point Pleasant; and her 11 grandchildren, Scott, Celyn, Vincent, Craig, Erin, Michael, Katie, Brett Kathleen, Kimberly, Megan, and Mary. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Timothy E.

Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Lavallette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Lavallette.
