COMPETELLO, 72, of NEPTUNE, died Monday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a truck driver for C.P. Transport, Little Ferry, for 26 years, retiring in 1986.

He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Born in Hoboken, he lived in Jefferson for many years, Ocean Township for eight years, and Neptune for the past year. Surviving are his wife, Jane E. Adamson Competello; and two daughters, Faye Competello of Weehawken, and Kerry Competello of Eatontown. Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Route 33, Neptune. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by interment at New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. JAY HEGT, 52, of MARLBORO, died Sunday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a teacher in New York for 31 years working for the past four years at Public School 203, Brooklyn.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, New York, and was active in Marlboro, including as a member of the Zoning Board. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Staten Island for 10 years before moving to Marlboro 15 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Rhoda Goldstein Hegt; two sons, Matthew and Andrew Hegt, both of Marlboro; his mother, Adrienne Hegt of Fort Lauderdale, and a brother, Ronald Hegt of New Rochelle, N.Y. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Manalapan.

JOSEPH F. KNAPP, 75, of OCEANPORT, died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a manager with Postureline Shoes, Red Bank, retiring in 1985. He also worked at Rumson Buy Rite for eight years. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Chaple Beach Club, Sea Bright.

Born in New York, he lived in Sea Bright and in Red Bank for 38 years before moving to Oceanport two months His wife, Jean Keeler Knapp, died in 1995. ROSE ELVA PETILLO, 86, of RED BANK, died Sunday at King James Care Center, Middletown. She was a homemaker, member of the Red Bank Women's Club since the age of 18, and a past president. She was the founder and first president of the Red Bank Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation. She was a member of the Monmouth Park Charity Ball Committee, the Substandard Housing Committee of Red Bank and the Red Bank Democratic Club. She was a Red Bank Democratic county committeewoman and an election board judge for the Red Bank district for 25 years.

She was a past president of Croydon Hall Academy PTA, where she helped introduce co-education into the school. She was a member and former president of the Monmouth Opera Guild and a fund-raiser for numerous organizations, including the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she lived in Little Silver before moving to Red Bank in 1943.

She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Petillo, a former Monmouth County assistant prosecutor; a sister, Margaret B. Ferri, a brother, Joseph B. Sacco; and her parents, Joseph and Margaret Bruno Sacco. Surviving are three sons and three daughters-in-law, John J.

He was a chemical supervisor for CibaGeigy, Summit, for 30 years, retiring 25 years ago. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving as a sergeant in the 11th Fighter Control Squadron stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Born in Newark, he lived in Chatham and Madison before moving to Clarksburg 20 years ago. He was a chemical salesman in Paterson for 40 years before retiring. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal. He was born and raised in Brooklyn before moving to Brick. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward, and two sisters, Ethel Colbert and Edna Neilson. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Betty Stewart La Vine; a son, James of Greeley, four daughters, Judy Thompson and Margaret Winchester, both of Greeley Sheila Sammelman O'Fallon, and Jean Reiser of Jackson; two sisters, Edith Caputo of Hicksville, N.Y., and Eleanor Dowd of Bellingham, and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9 to JUNO BEACH, FLA. Otto Boehm, 84, formerly of Middletown, who rose through the ranks of Union Carbide during a 43-year career to become president of the European Division, died Sunday in Florida after a brief illness. Mr. Boehm began his employment with Union Carbide Chemical Co. at the Bakelite plant in Bound Brook in 1935.

He was a production supervisor in Bound Brook from 1942 to 1947, assistant plant manager at the Marietta, Ohio, plant from 1948 to 1951, plant manager at the Wyandotte, plant from 1952 to 1954, production superintendent at the Bound Brook plant from 1955 to 1958; and executive vice president of the plastics division in New York. He moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where he became president of Union Carbide, Europe. He retired in 1978. After his retirement, he worked five years as a consultant for H.R. Grace and was a member of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), and the American Chemical Society.

From 1981 to 1988, he was a member of the Union Carbide Retired Executive Volunteer Corps. Mr. Boehm advised community leaders in South Bronx on strategic development plans for the revitalization of the area. He was a member of Navesink Country Club, Middletown, a and a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank.

Mr. Boehm was a 1940 graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, and did postgraduate courses at Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute. Born in Newark, he lived in Jersey City, Bound Brook and Middletown before moving to Juno Beach in 1999. His first wife, Florence Boylan Boehm, died in 1987, and he also was predeceased by his parents, Gustave Adolph and Magdelan Beck Boehm. Surviving are his second wife, Lois Edelmann Boehm; two daughters, Rita B.

Writer of Middletown, and Laura Reale Foley of West Hartford, a brother, William Boehm of Lacey; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was director of tax planning and research for Dunn and Bradstreet Murray Hill, for the past 19 years. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Glassboro State College in 1979 and a master's of business administration in taxation from Farleigh Dickinson University, Madison, in 1986. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Annandale. He served as a coach for the Mighty Might Football Team (High Bridge Athletics Association), North Hunterdon Little League and the Community Athletics Basketball. Born in Hackensack, he lived Little Silver and Trumbull, before moving to Clinton.

He was predeceased by a brother, Chuck Schultz. Surviving are his wife, Eileen Duffy Schultz; a son, Andrew J. "A.J."; three daughters, Katie Christine E. and Colleen his mother, Catherine Scullion Schultz of Toms River; two brothers, Ken Schultz of Greeley, and Jim Schultz of Shamong; and three sisters, Cathy Venskus of Seaside Park, Mary Hutchinson of Toms River and Amy Miles of Middietown. He also maintained a summer home in Sea Girt for more than 40 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Geraldine Fahy Walsh. Surviving are his wife, Ida Germann Walsh; a son, Donald J. Walsh; three daughters, Claire Walsh Rieger, Mary Catherine Walsh Ort and Regina Walsh; a sister, Genevieve Walsh Floyd; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley, Union Beach and Brick before moving to Bayville two years ago. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Benedetto Polukort; a son, John Polukort III; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Polukort; a brother, Richard Polukort; three sisters, his twin, Patricia Swiderski, and Janet and Sharon Polukort; and a granddaughter, Galeena Polukort. At the time of her death, she was headquarters chairperson of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs, New Brunswick, having served in that post since last year, and from 1988 to 1990. In 1998 and 1999, she was the organization's Fifth District international affairs chairperson and member of the convention and registration committees. Active in the Modern Muses Women's Club of Toms River, she was both the membership chairperson and nomination chairperson at the time of her death. She was also a past recording secretary and membership chairwoman of the Women's Club of Point Pleasant. She was an avid bridge player and volunteered in the accounting department of Clara Maas Medical Center, Belleville.

Born in Newark, she lived in Union before moving to Lavallette 20 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Potter. Surviving are a son, Richard T. of Union; a daughter, Stephanie S.
