SATURDAY, FEB. 10,2007 4 ASBURY PARK PRESS COMMUNITY SPORTS THE COLLEGE CROWD Hubbard stars in Stockton's conference victory STAFF REPORT Sophomore guard Jerome Hubbard, a graduate of Neptune High School, scored 12 points (including three 8-pointers) playing a team-high 38 minutes as the Richard Stockton College (15-7, 6-4) men's basketball team defeated William Paterson University, 66-48, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on Saturday In Pomona. i Hubbard is the Ospreys' top corer with a 14.6 points per game average, starting eight of the 10 games in which he has played. He also is averaging 4.1 rebounds per game for coach Gerry Matthews. i Matthews, in his 21st season Stockton, reached 400 victories on Jan.

Princeton University sophomore Dan O'Connor, a graduate of The Peddie School from Spring Lake, was edged by Yale University freshman Tom Robinson (1:48.63) in the 200 backstroke. O'Connor finished at 1:48.92 at the HarvardYale Princeton meet last weekend.

He placed fifth in the 100 backstroke (51.26). O'Connor's times earned him a spot on the Princeton University EISL team. The Easterns will be held at Princeton Feb 22-24. Princeton beat Harvard, 190-163, and Yale, 228-125. Kutztown University freshman Heather Wolkom, a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School, finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying time of 1:09.56 in a 157-103 women's week, Emslie was named Freehold Conference Player of the Week.

Sophomore Lamar Brown, a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, won a 3-2 decision over Kevin Fox at 197 pounds, the final win of the night as the Rutgers University wrestling team defeated Sacred Heart University, 25-15. Sophomore swimmer Janina Wojcik, a graduate of Toms River High School North, won two individual events the 50 freestyle in 25.67 and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.66 and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:42.71) in Rowan University University's 157-103 victory over Kutztown University, earning the school's Female Athlete of the Week. She also was on the 200 medley relay that finished second. Freshman forward James Shinn, a graduate of Monsignor Donovan High School from Jackson, had season highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds for his first career double-double, as Lebojnon Valley College defeated Widener University, 87-78, in men's basketball. Sophomore John Neidrich, a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy from Freehold, registered an 8-2 decision at 157 pounds over Taylor Green as the York College wrestling lost to Kings College 29-13. He lost a 7-6 decision to Gettysburg College's Andrew Goldstein in the Spartan's 40-6 triumph over Kings College in the tri-meet. Junior heavyweight Luke Panizzi, a graduate of Monmouth Regional High School from Eatontown, lost to King College's James Bishop, 5-3, then won by forfeit in the match with Gettysburg College. Senior guard Jessie Chalmers, a graduate of Middletown High School North, scored 10 points as the University of Scranton women's basketball team handed Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham a 78-63 loss. Senior guard Frank Emslie, a graduate of Raritan High School, had 28 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds as Fairleigh Division University at Florham defeated the University of Scranton, 79-71, in a Freedom Conference game on Saturday.

For his play in a two-win Sophomore Brittany Col-Iyer, a graduate of Lacey High School, won the 100 breast-stroke in 1:13.23 as well as the 100 freestyle in 57.6. Sophomore Stacy Delehanty, a graduate of Shore Regional High School, won the 200 backstroke in 2:22.31. Felician College redshirt freshman James Harper, a graduate of Long Branch High School, was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, after helping the Golden Falcons to a 2-0 week, both victories against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponents. He averaged 16.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the pair of games, while shooting 54 percent from the field. In a home victory over Post University, he recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds, and made three 3-point field goals.

Richard Stockton College's Jessica Matthews, a graduate of Toms River High School North, tied for third place in the high jump in East Stroudsburg University's Dick DeSchriver Invitational. Matthews also tied for ninth place in the triple jump. Chris Huch, a graduate of Pinelands Regional High School, placed fifth in the men's SIGNUPS TRYOUTS two state championships in 13 years. Junior Lauren Pfeifer, a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School from Freehold, swam on the winning 200 medley as The College of New Jersey women's swim team defeated William Paterson University, 159-78, on Saturday. SOFTBALL BAYSHORE WOMEN'S LEAGUE in Middle-town seeks players andor teams for a modified arc (pitch) league.
