ASBURY PARK PRESS SUNDAY, DEC. 2, 2007 AAS www.app.com OBITUARIES Additional obituaries AA5, AA7 MONMOUTH SETA (SETTIMIO TINTON ANGELO) FALLS, died I Friday, Nov. 30, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born May 30, 1923, at the family home in Westfield, and lived there until 1948. He received the football team's "Most Valuable Player" his senior year, and attended the Heisman Trophy Dinner in New York.

He was also the captain of the swim team. Seth attended New York University, majoring in engineering, until he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps after the attack on Pearl Harbor. During WWII, he served on the island of leShima with the 413th Fighter Group. He worked as a mechanic on P47N Thunderbolt fighter aircraft with the 34th Fighter Squadron.

After the war, he returned home and rejoined the family construction business, Guy Villa Sons, founded by his father, an Italian immigrant. For many years, he and his brothers operated the construction company and the Inman Racquet and Golf Club in Edison. Seth married the love of his life, Doris Mayonet on Aug. 14, 1948. They lived in Union for 23 years before moving to Colts Neck in 1971.

In 1986, they moved to Tinton Falls. Seth and Doris also maintained a home in Jensen Beach, Fla. until 1994. During his lifetime, Seth enjoyed his family, amateur flaying, traveling, music, the ironies of life, and his pals at the Wellness Center in Neptune. He was an active member of the Ocean Township Italian American Association, and a devout member of the United Methodist Church in Oakhurst, Ocean Township.

Seth was predeceased by his parents, Gaetano "Guy" and Settimia Cherimele Villa (for whom he was named); his beloved wife of 46 years, Doris Mayonet Villa; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Thelma, Dante, Guido and Mitzi; his sister, Estelle and her husband, Bill Plage; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elsie and John Addicks; and his granddaughter, Cara Nicole. Seth is survived by his loving children, his daughter, Pam and son-in-law, Bill Galatro of Oakhurst; his son, Craig and daughter-in-law, Gaye Villa of Readington; his brothers and their wives, Eddie and Ginny of Cookville, Harvy and Alyce of Pompano Beach, and his special granddaughters, Gina Galatro, Katie, and Rachel Villa. In addition to his 22 nieces and nephews and their families, he is also survived by his cousin, Florence; and the families of many of his other cousins, along with many dear friends. Seth's life epitomized the values and experiences of the "Greatest Generation" of the 20th century. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls. On Wednesday, a funeral service will be offered at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Eble of the United Methodist Church of Oakhurst presiding. BRINDLE, 89, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, at home. JOHN "JAY" BURAK, 88, of TOMS RIVER, died Thursday, Nov. 29, at Bey Lea Village, Toms River.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, No was a graduate of Thomas High School. He was a long time resident of Elizabeth before moving to Toms River in 1984. Mr. Burak was a multiple business owner, with businesses in real estate, market, and grocery in the area for thanty years. He served in the U.S.

Army Air Corp. during WW as an serial photographer. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Burak in 1987. Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Thomas and Mary Burak a of Toms River, a daughter and, her fiance, Janet Julia Burak and Charles DeGensio of Cedar Grove; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Burak-Mance and her husband, Peter and Jay William Burak and his fiancee, Nicole Zulauf; and a great-grandchild, Andrew Thomas Burak. Visitation and interment will be private at the request of the family.

30, at home. Born in Berlin, N.H., he lived in Keansburg before moving to Toms River in 1975. He was a master printer for Mancraft Printing in Newark for many years before his retirement. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Keansburg, and the Moose Lodge in Pleasant Plains. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa; one daughter, Marie; one brother, Edward; and one sister, Irene. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-inlaw, Clarence Jr. of Neptune, Daniel and JoAnne of Brick and Ken and Renee of Toms River; two daughters and two sons-inlaw, Leona and Dean Adams of Ocala, Fla. and Karen and George DePremio of Bayville, Berkeley; two brothers, Sonny and Henry of Massachusetts; five sisters, Mary and Gail of Florida and Lorraine and Linda of Massachusetts.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main Toms River. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River. AGNES M. CHAPPELL, 86, of POINT PLEASANT BEACH, died Thursday, Nov.

29, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Point Pleasant Borough from 1977 to 1994, when she moved to Point Pleasant Beach. She was a homemaker, and was a member and a Eucharistic minister at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant Beach. She was also a member of the Tuesday morning circle of love prayer group and a daily communicant and member of the Altar Rosary Society.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Chappell in 2002; and two sisters, Elizabeth Klumpp and Margaret Roggenstein. Surviving are her daughter, Vanessa Narcisi and her husband, Vince of Point Pleasant Beach; and three grandchil-. dren, Michael, Daniel and Dominick. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. ALEXANDRA KARTASHEFF, 81, of JACKSON, died Friday, Nov. 30, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, she lived in Belgium, then Newark, prior to moving to Jackson in 1962.

She was a proud foster mother for 30 years, and owned a farm in Jackson since 1962. She was a member of St. George's RO Church, Howell. She was predeceased by her husband, Gregory G. Kartasheff Sr.

in 1992. Surviving are three sons, Alexander and his wife, Christine of Cream Ridge, Upper' Freehold Township, Serge and his wife, Linda of Jackson and Gregory Jr. of Union Beach; one daughter, Galina and her husband, James of Brookneal, 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive, friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Timothy E.

Born in Newark, she lived in Wall Township before moving to Brick seven years ago. She was a bookkeeper in Neptune for 15 years, retiring in 1997. She is survived by her husband, William E. Keegan her mother, Mary Nickl of Brick; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward Nickl and his wife, Elizabeth of Spring Lake Heights; and a sister, Mary Beth Nickl of Brick. There will be no calling hours.

Interment is private. Contributions in Mrs. Keegan's name can be made to the ARC of Monmouth County, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, Brick. JEAN M.

KINDLE, 77, of LAKEWOOD, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Jean was a member of the Union Church of Seaside Park, the Seaside Chapter of Deborah and the Red Hat Society Lady Bug Chapter. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived for many years in Seaside Park. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 2003.

Surviving are her daughter, Brenda J. Helle; and her grandson, Thomas J. Helle III. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec.

9, at the Union Church, Seaside Park. Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River is in charge of arrangements. MARJORIE TIMONEY KREITZ, 88, of Forked River, LACEY, died Friday, Nov. 30, at Crestwood Manor, Whiting, Manchester. Born in Astoria, Queens, she lived in Union before moving to Forked River 10 years ago.

She was employed as an executive secretary for Western Electric of Newark for 30 years before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Elisabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society. She also worked at the St. Pius Thrift Shop, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1990. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Visiting hours will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting, followed by a 10 a.m.

MATTHEW LOONAN, 92, of MANCHESTER, beloved hus- band, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Friday, Nov. 30, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Manchester for the past 17 years. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps. Mr.

Loonan was a commercial and creative artist, as well as a sculptor. He was always a loving, caring person who loved life, living and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beatrice; his son, Howard; son, Seth and wife, Gail; daughter, Elizabeth Loonan and husband, Antonio Rosario; sister, Charlotte Glazer; brother brother-in-law and Tony sister-in-law, Logan; Eugene and Renee Gottlieb; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Brig.

Loonan's name may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the American Cancer Society. WILLIAM J. MACFARLANE, 85, of LAKEWOOD, passed away at home Thursday, Nov. 29. Born in Paterson, he was formerly of Silver Beach, Carteret before moving to Lakewood 20 years ago.

He worked for Hood Ice Cream, Totowa for many years before his retirement over 20 years ago. He was predeceased by his son, Marc; and his brother, Ken. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Rose; his children, Billy, Danny, Bobby, Jaclyn and Christine; and he was second father to Kathleen, Thomas, Joseph and Mary Ellen; 18 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; sister, Grace Wagner; and brother, Donald. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 and Vermont Avenue, Lake- wood.

She was predeceased by her husband, the late Abert C. Surviving are a long time friend and care giver, Diane Marshall of Beach Haven. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, Stafford.

Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Pleasantville. LAWRENCE JOSEPH MERBOTH, 90, of Lanoka Har- bor, LACEY, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at Tallwoods Health Care Center, Bayville, Berkeley. Born' in Bronx, N.Y., he was raised in Glen Rock, and lived in Wycoff and Allendale before coming to Lanoka Harbor in 1984. He was employed with the Witco Chemical Co.

(formerly Ultra Chemical Co.) for 47 years before retiring as a traffic manager in 1982. Mr. Merboth was a graduate of Ridgewood High School, an avid bowler, sports enthusiast and stamp collector. He was a member of Morning Star Presby. terian Church, Bayville.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria (Danks); his: wife of 50 years, Audrey (Gonza-! lez); and brothers, Warren, Howard and Albert. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence J. of Bridgewater and John M. of Gansevoort, N.Y.; two daughters, Lynne Chevres-Smith of Lanoka Harbor and Laurie E. Kelly of Bayville, a sister, Audrey Merboth McMorrow of Belvedere; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday at the Morning Star Presbyterian Church, One Morning Star Way (off Grand Central Parkway), Bayville. 30, at Arbors Care Center, Manchester. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., then in Dublin, Ireland before moving to Holiday City in 1971. Mr. Murphy was district manager for Safeway in New York City, then worked in public relations for Ballentine, Newark, retiring in 1968. He was a parishioner of St.

Joseph Catholic Church, Toms River and served as past president of the Mayo Men's Association, New York and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, New York City. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Murphy in 1992. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Timothy E.

DR. PAUL K. PISKO, 44, of Manahawkin, STAFFORD, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, at his home. He was a doctor of chiropractic, practicing in Manahaw.

Paul was a graduate of Toms River High School North, and began his studies at Ocean County College and proceeded from Kennesaw State: College, Kennesaw, Ga: and in 1991 from Life Chiropractic Col- lege, Marietta, Ga. Born in Upper Montclair, he was raised in Toms River. Paul was adored by everyone in the community, including his family and many friends, and he will be dearly missed. He was predeceased by his father, Bernie in 2000.

Surviving are his mother, Peg Pisko of Little Egg Harbor; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Denise Pisko of Toms River; his sister, Cheryl Pisko of Little Egg Harbor; and his nieces and nephews, Alex, Sawyer, Kylie, Callie, and Jaycee Rae. WALTER J. PLONKA, 84, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away' Thursday, Nov. 29, at Deb-. orah Hospital, Browns Mills. Mr.

Plonka was born in 'Irvington and lived in Newark and Irvington before moving to Whiting in 1998. He served in the Army during World War I and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 711 of Bloomfield, and the J.T. Koscuiszko Association of Maplewood. Mr. Plonka worked as a tool and die maker for Adolph, Gottscho Inc.

for 10 years, retiring worked in for 1987. Triad Prior Tool to that, Die and Triangle Tool Die, both of Hillside: 'He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred; and a sister, Helen Huber. Mr. Plonka is survived by his wife, Josephine Wielgus Plonka; his Janis Voo and her husband Virgil and Debra Plonka. He also leaves two grandchildren, Lila Voo and Soriano; and a great granddaughter, Sophia Soriano.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Rosemary Popp; his parents, Ambrose Popp Sr. and Rosalia Popp; and brother, Ambrose Popp Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Popp of Grayslake daughter, Carolyn and husband, Anthony Roselli of Jackson; sons, Lawrence A. Popp of North Port, Fla. and Timothy G.

HELEN RATCLIFFE REILLY, 86, of TOMS RIVER, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the home of her son in Cross, S.C. She was employed for 20 years as an underwriter with the BroomeHourigan Insurance Agency, Toms River before her retirement in 1991.

She was a communicant of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst. Born in Montreal, Canada, she moved to Toms River in 1962. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Reilly in 1994.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Lockwood of Manchester; a son, Roger J. Richie and his fiancee, Wendy Benton of Cross, S.C.; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Jersey City. He lived in Brick, moving there from Jersey City in 1973. He was a Union Teamster truck driver for Hall's Motor Trucking, out of Jersey City. He was a' member and served as an usher of the Visita: tion Church of Brick, and was a member of the VPW, the American Legion, Moose for 35 years, all in Brick, and the Breton Woods Property Owners Association.

He was the son of the late Michael and Agnes McHale Griffin. He was predeceased by his wife, Jennie Bunomo in 1972; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Joan Kearns. Surviving are two sons, Michael J. and his wife, Susan of Lebanon Township and Tony and his wife, Mary of Lopatcong; two sisters, Agnes Szwcyuk of Totowa and Barbara Cousins of Toms River; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and several and nephews. Mr. Schneidt was born in Hoboken, resided in Toms River for 12 years and in Howell before moving to Florida year ago. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War, and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for Germany. Mr.

Schneidt worked for the Clark Corp. in Spotswood as a machine operator for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Schneidt was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Josephine Schneidt; his daughter, Christine Ruggieri; and wife, Mary Ellen Schneidt in 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Kimmerle of Englewood, Fla.

30, at Monmouth Care Center, Long Branch. Mr. Sperry was born in Freehold, and had lived in Brielle before moving to Point Pleasant. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He also volunteered for the D.A.V. of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Mr. Sperry was an electrician for the I.B.E.W. Local No.

400, working in the central 1 New Jersey area his whole life, retiring in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Sperry of Point Pleasant; two sons, John Gorbich of Freehold and Scott Sperry of Ocean Grove; a daughter, Tracey Bos of Chesapeake, three grandchildren, Brianna Bos, Kelsey Bos, and Shannon Sperry; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Olga D'Lia of Spring Lake and Mary and Tom Kasprzak of Pine Beach. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until an 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday at the Clayton McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township.
