She was an award-winning sculptor and formerly operated a doll hospital at the Red Bank Antiques Center. She was active in many clubs and church activities. She was a woman of great talent and compassion. In England, she became chief operating room nurse, and was also chief assistant to Dr. Dwight Harkin, who performed the first open-heart surgery and received a citation for her work with him. She graduated Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Matawan. Born in Matawan, she lived in Keyport and Matawan before moving to Holmdel. She was predeceased by her parents, James M. and Marjorie H. Van Brakle.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Julia Kennedy Franklin, and a sister, Gloria McDonald. MARION PITTENGER MC ILVAINE, 97, of WALL, died Sunday at Monmouth County Care Center, Geraldine L. Thompson Division, Allenwood, Wall. She was a former member the Daughters of the American Revolution, Monmouth Court House Chapter, Cecilian Club and Women's Club, all of Freehold. Her family was very important to her. She was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of The Reformed Church of Freehold. Born in Howell, she moved to Freehold 1930 and then to Wall three years ago. Her husband, Stanley, died in 1982. She was also predeceased her parents, Jacob L. and Marianna Schanck Pittenger.

She was a registered nurse at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, and Fitkin Memorial Hospital (now Jersey Shore Medical Center), retiring in 1940 after 10 years of service. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Neptune City. She enjoyed her family, church and gardening. She was a graduate of McKinley Hospital School of Nursing, Trenton. Born in High-tstown, she lived in the Shore "area most of her life.

Her husband of 48 years, Chester W. Boud, died in 1980. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger M. and Carolyn Boud of Neptune City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois A. and Edmund Jelinek of Whiting, Manchester, and Phyllis E.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur Cappilla, in 1969, and her second husband, Louis DeVoto, in 1988. Surviving are a son, Keith A.

Cappilla of Amerillo, Texas; a daughter, Ellen N. Pirulis, with whom she lived; and four grandchildren, Brian, Jason and Aaron Cappilla, and Brittany Pirulis. EDWARD F. DRAZEK, so, of MATAWAN, died yesterday at Madison Center, Old Bridge. He retired in 1982 as a supervisor in the shipping department of Cook and Dunn Paint Newark, after 39 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6761, Old Bridge. He was a member of St.

Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor, Old Bridge. Born in Newark, he lived in Colonia, Woodbridge, before moving to Cheesequake Village 28 years ago. He was predeceased by a brother, Milton George Drazek, and a nephew, Michael E. Drazek. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Edith Riley Drazek; a brother-in-law, Norman Hanson; and two sisters-in-law, Regina Drazek and Eleanor Osmanski.

During World War II, she worked for the Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors and helped build more than 5,000 Wild Cat Fighters for the Navy. In November 1999, she was honored at the "Rosie the Riveters" Reunion in Linden.

She was a world traveler, and loving mother, great-grand-mother and sister. She was a mem-b of Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank, a member and driver of F.I.S.H., and held many offices and positions with the Order of the Eastern Star. Born in Boonton, she lived in Highlands before moving to Red Bank in 1970. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick F. Farina, in 1951, her second husband, Harold D.

Meseroll, in 1985, and her parents, August and Bertha Buhrig. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Fred E. and Barbara Farina of Atlanta, a daughter and son-in-law, Frances M. and Roger Somers of Tinton Falls; a brother, Herman Buhrig of Madison; a sister, Bertha Durante of West Long Branch; three grandchildren, Edward Somers, Michelle McConville, and Jared Hensley; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Somers, and Jake and Zachary McConville. He was a sales representative in the heavy equipment industry for many years, working for Ditch Witch Manala-pan, Vermeer North American Mount Holly, and most recently, Par Tech Andover.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his teen years, was a Golden Gloves boxer. Born in Cortez, he lived in Newark, Middletown and Cran-bury Lake before- moving to Green Township in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Karen a son, Patrick F. Cumming of Alpha; two daughters, Roxann L. Swanson of Atlanta, and Valorie L.

Ohnmacht of Brick; a brother Ronald D. Ohnmacht of Middle-town; a sister, Inez G. Czerwin-ski of Colonia, Woodbridge; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

She was owneroperator of the Madison Inn, Cheese-quake, Old Bridge, during the 1950s; the Sportsman's Bar, Marlboro, from 1964 to 1975; and Sis's Place, Lake Worth, Fla. In recent years, she owned and op-' crated rental properties. She 'I i air i by KATHLEEN VERD0N SPISAK, 33, of Springfield, formerly of RUMSON, died Saturday at NIH Clinical Center, Bethesda, after a valiant battle with malignant melanoma. Perpetually dedicated to serving the distressed, she pursued a career in nursing until stricken by the persistent spread of an aggressive melanoma. She served the disadvantaged women in the Washington, D.C., while pursing an MSN degree in OB-GYN at George Mason University.

Educated in Rumson public schools, she graduatedfrom Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 1985 with honors School, and Wheaton College in 1989 cum laude. Surviving are her husband, Craig Spisak; her mother, Kathleen Breslin of Tinton Falls; her. father and stepmother, Dr. John J. Verdon Jr.

and Mary Ellen of Long Branch; her siblings and their spouses, John J. Ill and Ines Verdon of San Francisco, Amy Verdon and Michael Lewis of Brooklyn, and Michael and Marci Verdon of Erie, and a sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Daniel Strack of Red Bank. A funeral service and requiem Mass will be held today at Holy Trinity, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., with the Rev. William McGroarty S.J., celebrating.
