AA6 ASBURY PARK PRESS SUNDAY, NOV. 28, 1999 OBITUARIES Additional Obituaries AA2, AA7 MONMOUTH ELEANOR BEIRNE, 85, of ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, died Friday at home. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. She was a member of the St.

Agnes Rosary Altar Society and Travel Club, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Over 55 club. Born in Hoboken, she lived in Jersey City before moving to Atlantic Highlands 53 years ago. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, William Beirne, of Atlantic Highlands; a son and daughter-inlaw, Kevin and Patricia Beirne; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and William Wiggington of Atlantic Highlands, Maureen and James Mansell of Fair Haven, and Claire and Bob Fitzsimmons of Belford, Middletown; nine grandchildren, Craig, Lisa, Keith Wiggington, Meghan Fitzsimmons, Bridget Fitzsimmons Brambilla, Janice Mansell, Kathleen Mansell Shanley, Michelle and Jeffrey Beirne; and many nephews and nieces. Viewings will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at John P.

Condon Funeral Home, Leonardo, Middletown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday a at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Center of Monmouth County, 1115 Green Grove Road, Neptune, NJ 07753.

CHARLES F. "CHUB" BORDEN. 82, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Friday at home after a lengthy illness. He was a mechanic at VanDerveer's Garage, Freehold Township, CitiService Motors, Freehold, and the Freehold Township Maintenance Department before his retirement. He was also retired from the Freehold Township schools' transportation department.

He was a former member of Monmouth Grange No. 92 and the State and National Grange, Morganville Independent Fire Company, and the National Rifle Association. He was a liaison for Silvermead Community to the Freehold Township Committee for many years before becoming ill. He was an exempt member of the Freehold Township Independent Fire Department, a member of the Freehold Township Republican Club and a past elder and deacon of the Reformed Church of Freehold. Born in Marlboro, he moved to Freehold Township in 1964.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, John, and James Borden. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Wilson Borden; his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ron Applegate, Freehold Township; his granddaughter, Lisa Applegate, Freehold; his grandson, Richard Applegate; two greatgrandsons, Christopher and Robert Applegate; two brothers, Rodney Borden, North Carolina, and Carlton "Bud" Borden, Marlboro; his sister, Meltha B. Casey, Marlboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

EUGENE A. CAHILL 70, of Virginia Beach, and formerly of UNION BEACH and KEYPORT, died Nov. 9 at Virginia Beach Hospital, Virginia Beach. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars with 22 years of service as a member of the underwater demolition teams and Seal teams i in California, Florida and Virginia. He also worked with the special warfare group with the Navy.

He was a communicant of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, where he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Virginia Beach for 50 years, the Fraternal Order of SEALS, the Fraternal Order Explosive Ordnance Detonation, E.O.D, and the U.S. Navy Salvage Divers Association. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Union Beach and Keyport before entering the Navy and later moving to Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his brothers, John J.

and Frances X. Cahill. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Willoughby Cahill; two sons, Eugene A. Cahill Jr. and Timothy Cahill, both of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Bernadette Cahill and Alexis Doughtie, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Muriel Feniello, of Monroe; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Virgina Beach, with full military honors. ALBERT S. CASAGRANDE, 89, of Cape Coral, and formerly of SPRING LAKE, died Nov. 21 at Cape Coral Hospital, Cape Coral.

He was a veteran of World War II. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in several Monmouth County towns, including Spring Lake, before moving to Cape Coral, 29 years ago. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; a son, James, Estell Manor; a daughter, Justine Diamond, Washington, D.C.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be private.

GERNERT, 89, of MANASQUAN, died Thursday at Brick Hospital, Brick. She was a manager at Alloy Steel Products Linden, for many years, retiring in 1972. She was very active at First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Rahway, Wall and Green Briar Village, Brick, before moving to Manasquan 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Gernert.

Surviving are her dear friends, H. Charlotte Roberts, with whom she lived, and Robert and Nancy Burkitt, Wall. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, followed by 11 a.m. funeral services at Armitage Funeral Home, 2333 Route 34, Wall.

Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan or to the Salvation Army of Newark. ALAN J. LOEFFLER, 53, of the West Keansburg section of HAZLET, died Friday at Clove Lake Health Care Center, Staten Island, N.Y. He was a mail handler and acting supervisor at the Edison post office for the past 11 years.

He was a Navy veteran and lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179, Middletown. He was also a member of the mail handlers union. Born in Newark, he lived in Laurence Harbor before moving to West Keansburg 17 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Carol Rabey Loeffler; a son, Craig, of West Keansburg; a stepdaughter, Colette Beausejour, of West Keansburg; and, from a previous marriage, three sons, Kenneth, Robert and Alan all of Laurence Harbor; two daughters, Dawn, of Wildwood, and Misty Musser, of California; a sister, Judy Forster, of Dingman's Ferry, and four grandchildren. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. She was a member of the Friendly Sons of Shilleleigh, Belmar, and was a longtime organizer of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Belmar, with her late husband, George, and she was a past deputy grand marshal of the parade.

Born in Jersey City, she lived in Sea Girt and in Wall for many years before moving to Manasquan recently. Her husband, George, died in 1992. Surviving are her mother, Irene V. Coughlin Nestor, Wall; a brother, the Rev. Robert Nestor, South Orange; a sister, Kathleen Baldassare, Wyckoff; a nephew, Frank and a niece, Alayne Baldassare.

He was the owner of A. L. Renna Brothers Service Station, East Orange. He was a Seabees veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Manasquan Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was an officer and former Elk of the Year at Manasquan Lodge 2534, where he chaired the Crippled Children's Committee. He was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Born in Orange, he lived in East Orange and Livingston before moving to Wall 25 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Angelina Fea Renna, and a brother, Lawrence.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria A. Bannon Renna; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Virginia Renna and Lawrence and Debra Renna, all of Wall; six daughters and five sons Patricia and Steven Chronic, of Wall, Lynda and Todd Cohen, of Marlboro, Barbara and William Byrne, of Toms River, Mary Beth and James Rutledge, of Brick, Susan and Kevin Gallagher and Jayne Leddy, all of Spring Lake Heights; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Neal Cairns, of Toms River; two sisters-in-law, Hannah Bannon and Arlene Renna; 22 grandchildren; 10 great dren; and many nieces and nephews.
