Ray Nicholson wound up with a no-hitter for the Rebels but he issued 13 walks.

Henry Hudson took a 4-0 lead in the second inning but Southern came back to score two in the third and then load the bases and sot the stage for Clayton's triple to right in the fourth inning. Nicholson helped his cause by driving in a run with a double in the fifth. In the sixth Jim Carter pushed a Southern Freehold run across with a double and Ben Talcott followed with a triple. The game was the last of the season for Southern Freehold with a 7-7 Class Northern Division Shore Conference record and 9-8 over-all. Hudson has a 2-12 league mark and 3-15 overall record.

Bob McCrudy was charged with the loss yesterday. He struck out four, walked six and was relieved in the sixth by Greg Joslin. Matawan Wins, 1-0 RARITAN TOWNSHIP Mata-awan Regional scored a 1-0 Shore Conference Divixion-North baseball victory over Rar-itan Township yesterday but to no avail in the league race as Shore Regional clinched the title by toppling Keyport. A single run in the top of the fourth was the margin of difference in the hotly contested pitchers' duel between Mata-wan's Ron David and Raritan's Jack Dowd. David scored his team's onlv run by smashing a long triple' to center field and racing home on Dowd's wild pitch with Ken Szyarto at the plate.

David's clout was the only ex- tra base hit of the contest. Four oher Huskies had singles. Raritan's Mark Howard and Larry Rossi kept David away from a no-hitter. David struck out sewn and walked three. Dowd gave up only one walk and fanned four.

Raritan is 8-8 for the season and Matawan 12-8. WEST LONG BRANCH -Shore Regional High School beat Keyport, 6-2, yesterday behind Fred Kampf's 2-hit pitching and clinched the Northern-B baseball championship of the Shore Conference. Shore scored two runs in the second inning without a hit. Bob Cicoone walked, took second on Don Klein's sacrifice and. third on a passed ball.

Pete Berger walked and went to second on a wild pitch. Tom Di-Napoli's sacrifice bunt scored Ciccone and moved Berger to third. Tony DeMarco walked. With two strikes on the batter, Berger started for home and Jay Franks struck out. Catcher dropped the ball, allowing Berger to score before Franks was thrown out at first.

Mosel Wins Shields 2nd DENVILLE, UP) a Mo-sel of Essex Fells won the Dodge Dealers Open Golf Tournament at Rockaway River Country Club yesterday with a 283 total for the three-day event. The Woot-7, 148-pound pro led big Bob Shields and lanky Wes Ellis Jr. by two strokes, scoring a 71 and a 74 on the final day. Shields, Green Brook, gained second place by nipping Ellis, Mountain Ridge, on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Mosel and Shields were tied going into yesterday's round.

Mosel was almost caught by Ellis on the final nine holes after Mosel went four over par. But the little swinger blasted three consecutive birdies on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes to clinch the victory. He three-putted for a bogey on the 18 but he could afford it. Ellis tied Shields on the 18th where Shields three putted from 15 feet. In the playoff, Ellis returned the favor, three-putting from 25 feet, while Shields carefully lagged up for a par.

For first prize, Mosel was awarded a $4,800 Dodge Monaco. Shields won a $2,800 Dodge Dart and Ellis received $1,200 for third place. Last year's winner. Otto Greiner of Knickerbocker, finished out of the money this time with a 297 total. Walt Rozak of Morris County came in first in the special seniors tourney with a 295.

Lou Barbaro, Hollywood, was the only Shore area pro in the money, earning $216.66 for a 293 total and a tie for 12th place. Jake Zastko, Spring Lake, who teamed with Dr. Abert Hoffman of the host club to win Thursday's pro-amateur event, wound up with a 297. Doug Sanderson, Rumson C.C., also had a 297. Vic Ghezzi, unattached of Rumson, totalled 298.

The Green Wave, new 6-11 on the season, scored six in the fourth and three in the sixth to hand the Caseys their ninth loss in 20 games. Winning pitcher Steve Strollo needed help from Tonv Orcione in the sixth when Red Bank Catholic threatened. Corcione put out the fire and finished up strongly. Jerry Buckalew was the losing pitcher. Errors, Walks Hurt Caseys Four errors, three walks, a wild pitch and hits by Steve Strollo, Emilio Mennella and Dan Chasey accounted for Long Branch's six-run fourth.

Chasey's bases clearing single that went through the right fielder was the big blow. Red Bank Catholic reduced the deficit to 7-6 with a three-run sixth that finish Strollo. Long Branch came oack with three in the bottom of the sixth to wrap it up. Dan Dilley doubled and Joe Mincbcrg singled for one run.
